Book Ball 150

Book Ball 150 is the 2016 signature fundraising event for the Des Moines Public Library Foundation. Celebrating 150 years of the Des Moines Public Library providing excellent services, programs, and collections for central Iowa; the event will be held at the former home of the Central Library, The World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. The evening will feature a poetry reading by Jim Autry and a special recognition of former Des Moines Public Library Director, Elaine Estes, by Ambassador Kenneth Quinn. The Book Ball 150 Honorary Chairs are Barbara and Michael Gartner. The evening begins with cocktails in the garden and dinner by Mike LaValle. During the program we will recognize Patricia O’Conner, Des Moines native and former editor of the New York Times Book Review, as the 2016 Iowa Author; and the Meredith Corporation as the 2016 Friend of Literacy. The event concludes with dancing by the river.
